Academy Award-winning sound designer Benjamin Burtt, Jr. is most renowned for his work on the Star Wars films. Among his iconic contributions to cinema's sonic landscape are Darth Vader's labored breathing and the droid R2-D2's bleeping vocalizations, as well as the sound of the light saber. He won the Best Sound Editing Oscar in 1982 for E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and for 1989's Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. His most recent effort was creating sound effects and robotic voices for Pixar's 2008 release WALL-E.
