Comedienne, actress, singer, and ukulele player Victoria Jackson was born on August 2, 1959, in Miami, FL. Growing up, she competed in gymnastics, became a cheerleader, and was the homecoming queen. After attending several colleges, she moved to Los Angeles to try her hand at comedy. While struggling to make ends meet doing standup in Hollywood, she worked as cigarette girl, a typist, and a waitress. After two years, her big break came when Johnny Carson's The Tonight Show booked her. On that show, she recited poetry while doing a handstand -- Carson loved it and she made numerous other appearances on The Tonight Show. She became a regular on Saturday Night Live for six seasons. She has also starred in movies and released several children's albums, including Ukelele Lady. Known for her childlike voice and incurable cuteness, Jackson divides her time between family life (she married her high-school sweetheart, a police helicopter pilot) and show business. ~ Tim Griggs, All Music Guide
